Installation Instructions for first timers in Cygwin.
First check if you have about 500 MB to install Cygwin.
Cygwin is a UNIX emulator on Windows, and it's my favorite toy to learn and use UNIX on my windows server.
Below are some steps to download and install cygwin.
First go to Cygwin Home Page
Click on "setup.exe", this will start the installation process.
Some of the initial steps are listed below.
Next, click on
I chose 'mirror.cs.vt.edu' to download and this took approximately 45 mins to complete the download
Once done, I clicked on the Cygwin Windows icon and I was able to see my first Cygwin installation successfully installed.
