ORA-01090, ORA 03113 -

This was seen on the Database Administrator during the connection process, since a shutdown was already issued - this error popup was seen.
















Seen during the shutdown process. This was in the command prompt/

I had issued the shutdown and it did not seem to complete the process and I went to the services folder and shutdown the various services.

Installing ITM 6.3.0 and Oracle 12c as a TDW for PA, SPA and WPA.

Run the setup.exe and let it install all the components on the HUB Tems.

Rebuild TEPS DB.

Notice the WINNT (32bit executable ) and the WIX64 ( 64 bit executable )

At this point - you will notice that there is an error in the kpacma.log stating it cant open the JNI_CreateJava () something.



This leads to the "DB Connection Failure" when you open the PA panel.

To fix this.


This is because the PA is a 32 bit exe, and it needs a 32 bit ODBC driver.

Below you will see that there is no 32 bit Oracle DSN driver.

If there was one - you would have seen the OracleHomeClient_something in the Add"

Notice the missing DSN line for Oracle 32bit Client. it has to be installed.

Please follow the Installation of the Oracle Client blog page to install the Oracle 32bit driver.

 


Install the 32bit Oracle ODBC driver.

Do not hit the "Test Connection" as it will fail. Only installation seems to have fixed the problem of the DB Failure error in the PA config panel.

This should remedy the Database error seen in the TEPS GUI.

At this time - I started the 32bit ODBC connections by setting the TNS_ADMIN to the new location where the Oracle 32bit ODBC client was installed.

set  TNS_ADMIN=c:\app\Administrator\product\12.1.0\client_1\network\admin
echo %TNS_ADMIN%

cd c:\windows\sysWoW64\
odbcad32.exe

 

 At this time - I added and did not "Test Connection", as it would fail in the ODBC 32 window.

Reconfigured the PA again, and reinit the PA tables to catch up with the 32bit ODBC driver ( I think the PA automatically detects the 32bit ODBC driver and uses it - not sure on the concept behind this )

Restart the Performance Analyzer, and the TEPS GUI panel should list the connection as "OK" instead of the ERROR, 

and also the bottom TEPS PA panel will list the various tasks.

If this does not work:
stop all the processes,   Rebuild the TEPS Embedded database, Reconfigure the TEPS, Reconfigure the PA and select the "Initialize" the PA tables. and start the PA.



Bring up the SQL developer,

Create a new connection call it WAREHOUS ( ONLY if it is not there ) - ( choose the service name as WAREHOUS ) and click on Tables.

Click on Test, it happens in a second and does not display a success of a failure - but just a flicker of the screen ( on both Windows 2012 and Windows 2008 )

Click on Connect.
 Now the WAREHOUS will appear in the left navigational panel.
This below clearly indicates that the PA is configured, but the historical configuration is not .

Another view if the Historical collections were configured.

ORA-12505 - Listener does not know of SID !

To fix this .

- Check which instances are currently known by the listener by executing: lsnrctl services <listener name>

- Check that the SID parameter in the connect descriptor specifies an instance known by the listener.

Test scenarios with Oracle 12c while creating the TDW.

SQL Developer and SQL Plus:

After installation and creating of the Oracle DB WAREHOUS, and configuring the ITM and launching the 64 bit SQL developer, follow this procedure to see the WAREHOUS on the left panel.
 
I had to manually create the connections in order to see the WAREHOUS db.

Essentially - click on Connections-> new Connection-> and enter as shown below.

For this 
Check that the ITM TEPS GUI is showing the PA panel and the tasks correctly - before proceeding.

b ) Remove the TNS_ADMIN in the Control Panel -> Advanced -> Environemntvars.
c ) Stop the SQL developer plus.
d ) Close the Command window.


e ) Open new command prompt.
f  ) Echo %TNS_ADMIN% - should show that this environment is not set

Installing Oracle 12c Client for ODBC connections.

This blog discusses how to resolve the ERROR shown on the TEP GUI console when the performance Analyzer is started.



Some background:
Performance Analyzer Agent is built as a 32 bit executable.

If one is attempting to run this on a windows 2012 platform which is a 64 bit, then this requires a 32bit Oracle ODBC drivers to be set up and it cannot use the default 64 bit ODBC connections.

In this context : one would download the 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver from this location below:

Check what the Kincinfo is showing

Is it WINNT or WIX64?  

If it's WINNT, then you need to create a 32-bit ODBC so it can talk to the Oracle TDW.  

While WPA requires 64-bit ODBC.  So we have to create 2 different ODBC when TEPS and WPA are installed on the same Window system.


Here are some snapshots of installing the 32bit Oracle ODBC driver.
( but before you install - click on c:\windows\sysWoW64\odbcad32.exe and click on DSN - and ensure
a) The ITM Warehouse is a 64 bit DSN and
b) Add -> does not have a " Oracle 12dbhome_1 "   - clearly indicating the DSN for 32 bit is not present.


Let's download the 32bit Oracle client :

PA is a 32bit executable, itneeds the 32bit ODBC to talk to the Oracle TDW.First to install the 32bit ODBC so that it can talk to the Oracle TDW  
bring up the 32bit ODBC and validate that there is no DSN  
below, it is a 32bit ODBC -and THE DSN is actually 64 bit, but I need to install and create the 32 bit.  
 
Now install the 32bit oracle client.  
 
 
 
Click Next.  
 
 
 
 
 
Now, bring up the 32bit ODBC in the c:\windows\syswow64 folder.  
Click on Add.  
Search for the 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver.  
 
Configure and test the connection.  
If you got this.  
 
Check TNSNames.ora in the c:\app\Administrator\product\12.1.0\client_1\Network\Admin

The client installs a new folder as shown below in blue.

Go to "Control Panel -> Advanced ->  

Set the environment variable in the Advanced tab of the System Properties control panel.
Bring up a new command prompt window.

Check it is set:

echo %TNS_ADMIN%


Then run tnsping to check if your connect string can be resolved:

The tnsnames.ora looks like this.
